Fun Finds Friday: Bathroom Rugs

Today I was thinking about what fun finds I would share, and the thought occurred to me to browse bath mats.  Hmm... bath mats?  I wondered if I would find anything interesting, and wow, did I!  I opened myself to a whole new world of bathroom accessories.  From feminine to whimsical, there is something for anyone looking for a great accent piece that will show off their unique style.

I hope you enjoy these finds from some of Etsy's talented artisans, and be inspired to show off your style!

Fun Finds Friday: Floor Cushions

You know when you see something for your home that is so your style, so fresh and pretty, in all of it's cottage style goodness, that you just can't take your eyes off of it?  That happened to me this week as I stumbled on some floor cushions on Etsy.

Hence, today's Fun Finds!  I just love the patterns, textures, and personalities galore of these floor cushions/ottomans. Not only do they provide extra seating at gatherings, but a fun focal point for the living room, kids room, game room, reading nook, etc.

Enjoy these cushions from some great designers/artisans on Etsy!

Fun Finds Friday: Towel Hooks

This week, I still have bathroom organizing and decorating on my mind.  Since we featured shower curtains last week, I though we should continue the theme and move on to towel hooks for some style inspirations.

It is so refreshing to clean up and organize a space, isn't it?  A clean, tidy room (where you actually know where everything is) pleases the eye and gives a restful, less anxious feeling - at least for me it does.  Now don't get me wrong - I'm not saying my bathroom is always tidy!  I do have kids, you know. BUT, since I went through and cleared out everything we don't use regularly, and purchased some inexpensive drawers to organize what we have, it is so much better.  Now there is room to have things put away in an organized fashion rather then cramming it in the shelf (we were really bad about that, as we have a tiny bathroom).  When things do get left out, it's easy to take care of.

In our small bathroom (the only one in the house) we don't have room for a lot of towel racks.  So, we're considering adding some hooks on the back of the door to take care of the problem.  There are so many fun choices out there it's easy to jazz up your look with wall hooks.

Here are some I want to share with you from a few shops on Etsy.  I thought these were all fantastic, and there is a variety of styles which would go well in a cottage home.

Enjoy!

Feel free to share a favorite bathroom organizing tip either here in the comments, or on our Facebook Page. Thank-you!

Shower Curtains: Fun Finds Friday

I'm back with today's Fun Finds.  We're headed to the bathroom and checking out some fantastic and fun shower curtains!

Is your bathroom the neglected room of your house that seldom sees the light of decorative creativity?  A  bright new shower curtain is a quick and easy way to liven up your space.  I don't know about you, but I love a cute bathroom, and the wide variety of patterns and color available are a fun way to show off your personality.

Of course, once you have your new shower curtain in all of it's shower curtain glory, you'll probably want to coordinate it with some new towels... and maybe a new mirror... but I'll leave that for another day's Fun Finds.

Here are several from Etsy shops that I just loved.  The patterns and colors are just brimming with freshness and style.  Enjoy!

It's Time for Home Organization

Be sure to join me this month on my Facebook Page, Basil And Blue, as we'll be sharing home organization tips, ideas, products, etc.   If you are going to start to re-organize a space in your home, be sure to take before and after pics and share with us!

After the New Year, many of us look over our past year, see what needs to be improved, and cry about our previous resolutions that failed.  Yes, failed.  I think I've gone about things all wrong.  I don't need a yearly goal that probably is doomed to failure, but I'm going to try monthly "baby steps" to attain my goals.

Many people have said they are going to get more organized this year, and that's on my list too.  So, where do we start?   I am somewhat limited by lack of space.  Four of us, and 2 home businesses in less than 900 square feet is definitely a challenge for me.  You need space to be organized.  Since I don't have space, I therefore need less stuff.

My first segment for attaining my goal I'm going to call "The Great Purge."  I need to decide what I actually do need, and what I don't.  I mean REALLY need.  Like, do I really need 10 or 12 dish towels which take up precious drawer space?  Probably not. Or what seems like a gazillion leftover dishes and lids?  Definitely not. I obviously need my business inventory and supplies, but my household items need to be pared down.  Any decor needs to serve a purpose.

I will allow myself to keep a few sentimental items which I love, even though they may not have a purpose, or fulfill a need.  Maybe I'm allowing myself too much freedom with that - we'll see!  If I have half a house full of "loves" I may need to re-prioritize.

I will update you every so often, to let you know how it's going. :-)  Feel free to comment with any tips.

Thank-you,
Amy
